Bus Lane hours changed

Following pressure from local councillors David McBride, Martin Curry and Brenda Thompson, the Council asked TfL to change the bus lane hours along Cray Avenue as it was causing congestion. They did this, but only for half of the lane! We have asked that they change the hours for the other part of the bus lane quickly.

New playground is a huge success

The new playground in the Brooks Way area in St Paul's Cray is proving to be a hit with local children. The playground was approved after support from Cray Valley East Liberal Democrat councillors, despite opposition from Tories from Beckenham. "I am delighted that the playground is being so well used," said Cllr David McBride.

Councillors join Community Clean-up

Cray Valley East Liberal Democrat councillors Cllr David McBride, Cllr Brenda Thompson and Cllr Martin Curry recently joined local Friends members, Police and Council officers in a clean up in the area around the river in St Paul's Cray village. Brenda, Martin and David have regularly attended these events over the past few years since the Friends of the Cray Valley group was set up. "It is a good way for the local community, including us as councillors, can come together to keep our area clean," said David.

Lib Dems Propose Council Tax Freeze

Bromley's Liberal Democrats, for the second year running, will propose a rise of 0% for this year's Council Tax, saying that in the current recession a Council Tax freeze would help all of the Borough's residents.

Bromley's Tories block money for the Crays

Local Liberal Democrat councillors recently asked the Council to spend some money to improve Carlton Parade and the northern end of Orpington High Street. The Council were proposing to spend this money to improve the middle of the High Street but a grant meant that they did not have to. Incredibly, Bromley Tories voted against the money being spent in our area and it goes back in the bank. Cllr David McBride said, "This proves what many residents have felt about Bromley Tories. They do not care about this area at all."
